How does seasonal tire storage work, and is it worth it?
We pick up your off-season set from your home, keep it in dry, camera-monitored storage, and bring it back for your next seasonal swap. It is $79.95 and frees up your garage or balcony. If you store them yourself, keep them clean, dry, cool and out of the sun.
What storage includes
- Free pickup of your off-season set from your home
- Dry, camera-monitored storage until your next seasonal swap
- The set comes back with your technician at your next appointment, ready to go on
Storage is $79.95, and it can be added to any seasonal tire change when you book.
Who it suits
- Condo and apartment owners with no garage
- Anyone whose garage is already full
- Drivers who would rather not lift four wheels in and out of a car twice a year
Storing tires at home
If you keep your own set, a few things make them last longer:
- Clean them first. Road salt and brake dust left on the rubber and rims all summer does them no favours.
- Keep them cool, dry and dark. Sunlight and heat age rubber. A basement or the back of a garage is better than a shed or balcony.
- Keep them away from motors. Furnaces, sump pumps and other electric motors produce ozone, which slowly cracks rubber.
- Stack them correctly. Tires on rims can be stacked flat or hung. Tires without rims are best stored standing upright and turned now and then.
- Mark where each one came from. A small chalk note like "FL" for front left makes rotation simple next season.
Not sure what you have?
Before the season, check the tread and look for cracks in the sidewalls. Our technicians do a visual inspection on every visit and will tell you if a tire is not safe to put back on.
Common follow-up questions
Is pickup included?
Yes. Pickup from your home is free with storage, and the tires come back with the technician for your next seasonal change.
Can I store tires on my condo balcony?
Many condo buildings don't allow it, and sun and freeze-thaw cycles are hard on rubber. If you have no indoor space, storage is usually the better option.
Do tires go bad sitting in storage?
Rubber ages with heat, sunlight and ozone, which is why proper storage matters. Kept cool, dry and dark, a set lasts many seasons. Tires stored in a hot shed or in the sun crack and harden sooner.
